UPDATE: I’ve decided to extend the competition deadlines to August 2nd because I received a call that all the data on my computer has been recovered (PHEWPH A THOUSAND TIMES PHEWPH) and so now I’m just waiting on a new harddrive to ship in. SO I’m extending the deadling so that I can do my next blog on my darling lappy again!

Oh man I know it’s been like the longest time since I’ve updated my blog but I really have a reasonable excuse!! My beloved less-than-3-months-old MacBook Pro has decided to DIE on me and I had to take it into servicing. Turns out my harddrive FAILED and apparently there’s something wrong with my logic board so I’ll be getting a new harddrive and they’ll be doing data recovery to retrieve all my files from my old harddrive to put onto my new one. So after a few days, I receive a call from the service center and they say “Sorry but we were unable to recover any data from your harddrive.” I swear to god my heart stopped for a good 3-5 seconds. I was seriously speechless for a while too..and after a bit of asking who what why, I asked if they could TRY AGAIN!??! and the lady just goes “Okay we’ll call you back.” That was 2 days ago and I am still frantically waiting for the call. Seriously, all my DESIGN WORK and my PHOTOS are on there. Ugh I wouldn’t even know what to do if I lost all my work…ugh….don’t wanna think about it *cries*. Ugh, sorry for the essay too -.-

Aaaaaanyway, so because of my long absence, here is just two outfits in one post and a mega huge update of stuff that has been happening lately.
I actually haven’t been doing much nowadays. Because of my f-unemployment, I’ve been staying home as much as possible so as to save money and plus, it’s just way too hot to go out (32ºc or about 90ºf). Oh and I just wanted to say thanks to all my awesome readers and for all the lovely comments! I’m sorry about the hiatus but I’ll be sure to pray for my laptop (and my job-hunt) so I’ll be able to update more often!

BDG men’s tshirt, H&M bandage skirt, OTK socks, Converse, Louis Vuitton vintage Speedy, random bracelets/rings, DIY Geometric necklace.

On the Star Ferry

I wore this about 2 weeks ago. I had been looking for a pair of good OTK socks for ages and finally found them from Jardine’s Bazaar in Causeway Bay for fairly cheap. Unfortunately when I wear them, my thunder-thighs look like they’re BURSTING out from the opening so I decided to fold them over just at the top (they were too long anyways). I now love my OTK socks and have worn them a couple of times already. For daytime I’ve been just wearing them with Converse since they can be kind of slutty when worn with heels..I’ll save that for my late night gallivanting. Also, this is the geometric necklace I made, click here for the DIY tutorial!

More strange South East Asian fruits. This is rambutan. They’re kind of like lychees but with longer hairs and slightly bigger in size. I think they’re not as sweet and tasty as lychees but that’s just me.

Momo swimming at the Country Club!!

Happy lucky!!!!

AA tshirt dress, OTK socks, Converse, Chloe canvas bag, DIY Geometric necklace.

Wearing my OTK socks again, seriously love them! I wore this out for dinner with some friends the other day. The Chloe tote is pretty awesome. We have the same one in canvas, this one is denim. My brother used to work within the Richmond Group so he got them for me and nanz!

And lastly, as a reward for reading all the way until now (I know, I know, I tend to babble on a lot) I’ve decided to do a giveaway!! I’ve never done one before so I thought I’d try it out. In addition, I was thinking of doing a Q&A thing. I was a bit wary at first..thinking that no one would bother wanting to know about me so I’m not sure if ppl will even bother asking questions, but then what the hell who cares.

The prize will be this super cute bronzish/dark gold necklace with an umbrella and a cute little birdie pendant! I bought it from a cute little jewelry store in Causeway bay (Hong Kong) and thought it would make a good giveaway prize!

So all you have to do is ask me a question in my comment box down there and I will randomly pick a winner out of all the people who’ve asked me and in addition, I’ll be answering all the questions in my next post!
Okay I think that sounds easy enough! You have 1 week, until July 29th to be entered into the giveaway. Good Luck everybody!

These posts are kinda cool too:

Oooh, I love that necklace. And your DIY necklace- too awesome and very clever. Much more clever than this stick-figure drawing, super gluing her fingers together non-clever can do!

Let’s see, question. Where is your favorite place to travel? Country, city- doesn’t matter. What’s your favorite spot to be in when you want to get away from it all?

Hi D,
I love your sense of fashion. I love that you put your own personal twist on/in to everything that you wear. You always sneak in that Denise touch that we all get to see in all your pics that you post!

Here is my question: What piece do you cherish the most in your closet? What is its significance to you? and Why?

Love how you wear otk socks, I kind of want to add a pair of white sneakers to my collection now after seeing how well you wear yours.

Want that umbrella/birdie necklace! Q: If you could only wear one piece of jewelry for the rest of your life what would it be and why? You don’t have to actually own it, btw.

Love your blog and the way you implement different accessories into your outfits. =)
My question is: After living in New York, would you say your style is more western influenced now? And between both cities, what store is your utmost favorite?

Woah, big post.
Well first, I love your neckless! for some reason it reminds me of a robot and I love it :) I always love your moving photos, they’re great.
That fruit is really intresting me by the way, hahah
And that last neckless is a doll. If I can call a neckless that, it just seems perfect

Hi there!!
I recently came across ur blog from another blog… this is really cool, i grew up in HK and moved to Aust after primary school, so it’s really nice to see a HK blogger who spent time in the ‘western world’… ur photos bring back memories! :) though i am so jealous of u, i am not going to move back to hk. i will remain in aust with my family, which is still good. i go back to HK once a year as i still have friends there. but ANYWAY i am just so happy i came across ur blog.

You are fabulous! I’m glad to have found your blog. : > You have the attitude and uniqueness that the fashion blogosphere can lack at times…

As for my question, what shows did you watch as a kid? And have you ever watched Meteor Garden? My chinese teacher in highschool loved it and we’d watch it on free days… *sighs wistfully*

July 30, 2009 at 11:33 pm

Love your blog! Love your DIY’s! And here goes my question :]

As a teenager, I have went through many style changes, for good and for bad. So i’d like to ask you, what was your style like through your teenage years and how has it shaped how you dress today and is there anything you liked/disliked then that you adore/can’t understand how you liked it now?

wow! awesome DIY necklace!!!!

how does a Macbook pro just..die like that?? I’ve been thinking about getting a Mac to replace my current very old and excrutiatingly slow laptop. Anyway, I hope you wont have any dramas with it in the future.

I don’t qualify for the competition..but i’d like to ask a question anyway :)

Since I will be flying to HK in a few months time….which is your favourite restaurant/cafe that you would recommend in HK?

Hope the heat isn’t killing you! Stay cool :)

Hi. What app do you use to make your moving gifs?? The one with the “hair coming at ya” effect kinda shook me a little there. (=

And, what’re you doing with your Nikes now that you’re no longer a “sneakerhead”?

August 2, 2009 at 12:07 am

Whooohooo so glad I made it back home in time for this! X) thank goodness you extended it to 2 Aug haha… but anyway am glad that I’m able to read all these awesome posts.

that geometric necklace is too cool!! your DIY necklaces seriously make my feeble attempts well, a whole lot more feeble ;p but that’s what being inspired is all about eh! I totally wanna give the geometric thing a go now…

aww man sorry to hear about your Mac… hope at least some stuff will be recovered? in the meantime keep calm and just remember, in the end, memories in the heart always remain there! (with regards to the photos anyway… but i know, easier said than done)

Heh okie on to the question… What’s the one thing you would like to accomplish before you reach 30? =)

Bernice
August 2, 2009 at 12:36 pm

Hi!

Like lau-ra, I came across your blog when I was reading the park & cube blog! :) That was two days ago and liking what I saw, I went through all your old posts… you have lots of pictures on each page, so it took a little longer to load – but definitely worth it!

I came back today, and found out about the competition! The date has deadline has past, but I still want to ask a question… :D

Do you feel that style comes from being aware of the latest trends and hypes, or is it something innate that manifests itself when one has the ability to coordinate an original outfit that shows their personality?

TY :)
