DIVING HIGH

If you’re following me on social, you may have noticed that along with some of our closest friends in Shanghai, we’ve all been hanging out at this new spot in Shanghai called HIGHLINE. Located on the 6th floor of the Ascot hotel in Xintiandi, HIGHLINE is the newest and definitely the COOOOLEST spot to hang out in, early morning up til late night. Since it’s actually part of a hotel, they’re open for breakfast all the way up until late night drinks. Designed in the style of a mid-century Californian open space lounge, the white, muted greens and reds with hints of gold throughout the restaurant really transport you to what feels like a Californian movie set from the 60s. I’m not good at describing food but all I can say is that their dishes are super yummy. It’s a mix of classic western flavours updated of course with a fancy touch here and there. They’ve also just rejigged the menu since their soft-opening phase and have just added 10 new dishes to their menu! Some of my favourites include the new coconut shrimp, the smoked trout wedge salad, the octopus and chorizo dish, their new penne with foie gras, oh and you MUST order the Prime Rib at dinner!! Top it all off with the deconstructed red velvet cake with ice cream and the girls scout thin mint ice cream cookie oh oh and I don’t drink often but Raph from Fernet Hunter has successfully made the YUMMIEST drinks ever for Highline so def pick a few of the drinks menu! So much goodness..once the weather starts to warm up, you’ll def find me chilling on their giant open space balcony having lunch, then chilling all day and staying around for dinner too!!

On another note, I recently got a Supreme dry bag and instead of using it as an actual functional dive bag, of course I’m using it as a makeshift handbag instead. I’d like to think I’m probably the only girl doing this. Special right? So you could NOT have imagined how excited I was when I saw that esemblé made their own version of a dry bag, but in leather!! Esemblé is def one of my favourite smaller independent brands and I especially love that they’re from Hong Kong, so when I saw their latest collection, I dieeeed. I love their take on the dry bag that they call the DIVE bucket bag. Unlike a real dry bag where you have to roll in the opening to create a tight seal, the leather Dive Bucket bag folds into itself and is held together with magnets, then just like a real dry bag, there is a gold clasp that snaps together for closure. I gushed about my love for dry bags to esemblé’s main designer Tink and told her how much I appreciated the functionality and idea behind their new bucket bag. Safe to say we’re probably a rare breed of girls that just love dry bags hahaha!
