HART Mao Jacket, American Apparel lace top, Zara pants and Topshop Unique Boots.
I always think you have to surround yourself with creative people in order to be creative yourself. This is one of the many reasons why Jason and I are the best team ever, we support and inspire each other all the time. Since being in Shanghai, I’ve met so many cool and creative people like my good friend (and, sadly, now former neighbour) Hart Hagerty, who has launched her own line of one of a kind jackets. HART Jackets are wearable art pieces that feature incredibly beautiful and intricate embroideries that are rare one of a kind pieces in itself made by small artisan communities from around the world. Her first collection focuses on China featuring colourful embroidered panels from Miao communities.
Pictured here is the beautiful Mao jacket where each of the utilitarian jackets feature one of a kind embroidery on the cuffs, pockets and back panels as well as a 70s Mao collar and patch pockets which are iconic elements to the Mao jacket that many Miao minorities were forced to wear during China’s Cultural Revolution. There’s definitely a feeling of “being special” when you wear these jackets and I love that no two pieces are the same. These are the type of special items that you think look nice in pictures but the second you see them in person, you kind of gasp at how beautiful it is in real life.
