Okay WOW. The Qiu Hao show on the second day of Shanghai Fashion Week was seriously fucking amazing. I’ve been to a few shows here and there in HK and I’ve never seen any collection quite so well designed, put together and presented so amazingly. After first working on his RTW line “Neither Nor” and following up with the opening of ONEBYONE boutique in Shanghai, Qiu Hao furthered his study with an MA in Womenswear Fashion from Central Saint Martins in 2004 which lead to the launch of his namesake label QIU HAO. Think pony-hair wraps, a-line skirts (DYING), deep-v dresses which all also came out in super lush plaid checked prints, creamy whites and textured blacks. Seriously you guys know how much I love my a-line grandma skirts and in PONY HAIR? Good lawd. There were these oversized coats that had their sleeves knotted at the back with alternate arm holes. Watch me attempt to wear an oversized jacket with my arms tied behind me.
This is my first time at Shanghai Fashion Week and according to my Shanghai fashion friends Hart and Timothy, the Qiu Hao show was one of the best they’ve seen. The music, the models, their slicked back hair and the clothes (oh god the clothes) were so great and set the bar really high for me in terms of Shanghai fashion. Another show I’m looking forward to is Helen Lee. I’m not sure if I’ll be attending though cos I have some family visiting this week but I’m sure it’s going to be great too!
P.S. Excuse the horrible quality of my photos, still haven’t configured the perfect runway shooting settings. I took the bad photos and reworked them in photoshop and layered them to create new images which I think are so much cooler now!
Streetstyle phenom: Timothy Parent, protecting himself from the intense smoke machine before the show starts. Yes that is the Margiela for H&M duvet coat wrapped in a custom cover (he has 7 different ones made).
THIS pony hair wrap and baggy leather pants..
The checkered print (also came in a black on white) is so perfect.
Oh good gawd I wish I got a better picture of this. Basically a leather raglan crewneck with slits cut out on the side for alternative armholes. DYING.
And lastly, some crazy fun in an awesome super photographic alleyway we discovered!
